Social Value

Working to bring social, economic and environmental benefits to communities across the UK.

How we add value

Helping bring social value to your communities

We understand how important social value is for our clients, and it matters to us that our operations generate meaningful benefits for local economies and environments. Our aim is always to leave a positive legacy for residents in the communities we serve.

Understanding regional priorities

Working in close partnership with local authorities and housing providers, we take time to understand the challenges you face and adapt our approach to be locally relevant. This way we can help organisations meet social priorities for the region and bring tangible benefits for residents.

A structured, measurable approach

We know our clients need to be confident about achieving social value in a structured, measurable way – so we embed and monitor SV performance within the planning and delivery systems of every project we undertake.

How we can support your area

Defined in collaboration with you, our offer aligns with each programme’s scale and delivery pipeline, providing a full service which stays focussed on your priorities.

Local skills, employment and apprenticeships

  • Sustainable local employment to meet demand for retrofit skills, including delivery/supply chain roles
  • Structured apprenticeship pathways, mentoring + training opportunities, supporting meaningful training and skills development to build long-term employment potential
  • Create new, locally recruited jobs in roles such as Resident Liaison Officer, site supervisor and programme support functions
  • Target local workforce and SME involvement to strengthen the local economy and improve delivery resilience

Education, training and awareness

  • Engage with local schools, regional colleges and training providers to promote careers in retrofit and low-carbon construction
  • Offer work placements to support skills development and build awareness of career pathways
  • Run outreach locally where accessible to encourage maximum participation

Tackling fuel poverty

  • Install fully funded appliances for eligible low-income residents
  • Help residents appreciate the impact of sustainable living
  • Support local charities and community enterprises with volunteering/donations

Environmental value

  • Minimise impact by prioritising local supply chains, optimising delivery routes and reducing waste and delivery-related carbon emissions
  • Adjust our approach to suit each region’s climate priorities, including net-zero transition and enhancing biodiversity
  • Deliver community environmental projects with schools, charities and community groups to enhance public open spaces and improve natural habitat
  • Monitor/report environmental performance throughout projects, including waste volumes, recycling rates, carbon emissions and local sourcing to ensure transparent, measurable reductions

Always improving

Taking a dynamic approach means we keep finding ways to evolve our social value contribution and improve throughout each project.

  • We refine our activity based on performance data, monitoring and feedback
  • We target support to gain the greatest measurable impact for local communities
  • We strengthen local partnerships to make our delivery more effective
  • We continuously identify and take opportunities to create better outcomes
