Former BEIS Deputy Director of Warm Homes Team joins AgilityEco

AgilityEco welcomes Richard Mellish as Executive Advisor

AgilityEco is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Mellish as its Executive Advisor. Following his recent retirement from the civil service, Richard joins AgilityEco from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy where he headed up the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) & Warm Home Discount (WHD) team.

Richard now has an advisory role and is supporting AgilityEco’s Executive Team to consider how it can engage to best effect with new and emerging Government policy.

Richard retired from the civil service after nearly 40 years in March 2019. Prior to his retirement, he worked in several different departments and across various policy areas including housing, construction, sustainable development and planning control of energy infrastructure. From 2011 until his retirement he worked on home energy efficiency.

Richard was the Deputy Director leading the Warm Homes Team and he was responsible for implementation of the Fuel Poverty Strategy, £1bn pa spending under the Energy Company Obligation and Warm Home Discount schemes, and for improving quality of work and consumer protection through the Each Home Counts review.

He is very pleased to be working with AgilityEco, supporting some of the poorest and most vulnerable households in the country. Commenting on the new appointment, Gearoid Lane, Chief Executive, AgilityEco said:
