Improving North Northamptonshire homes: Paul’s Story
5 August 2026
“The house does feel better – you can really notice the difference.”
Meet Paul. He’s a North Northants resident who applied via Warmify and qualified to receive free home energy efficiency upgrades under Warm Homes: Local Grant funding.
Since October 2025, with our installer division Aran, we’ve been helping North Northamptonshire Council install energy efficiency upgrades and low carbon heating systems that provide year-round comfort and lower energy costs for eligible households – like Paul’s – across the region.
Clean, affordable home energy
Before he heard about his local Warmify programme, Paul was struggling with rising energy bills, a draughty house and mould and condensation issues. Understandably, he was concerned about the impact of the cold on the family, particularly his young daughter.
Once Paul’s application was approved, we surveyed his property before selecting the upgrades that would make the biggest difference to the family’s comfort, energy bills and home energy efficiency in the long term.
The property received solar panels, a solar battery, loft insulation and ventilation improvements. This effective combination of upgrades keeps the house warm while generating and storing electricity to reduce electricity bills further.
“I have an app to see how much the solar panels generate each day, and I’ve set up the export tariff with my provider. So, working out how much it will reduce bills over the course of a year, it’s fantastic!”
Creating warmer, cheaper-to-heat homes
Following on from our previous successful collaboration on Home Upgrade Grant Phase 2 (HUG2), this three-year Warm Homes: Local Grant initiative runs to March 2028, providing high-quality installations fully compliant with DESNZ guidelines and industry standards.
Over 350 applications have been processed since the scheme began in October 2025, so it’s already making a real difference to households across the region, helping reduce fuel poverty and enabling residents to enjoy warmer, healthier homes.
We look forward to continuing the partnership and bringing meaningful, long-lasting support for residents like Paul.
